About SC Give
SC Give is the Stanwood Camano community's local Giving Tuesday event. It is a 24-hour online giving event hosted by the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation to celebrate and support giving and local philanthropy. Starting at midnight on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, Stanwood and Camano Island residents will unite for 24 straight hours to give to a variety of projects that provide basic needs and enhance the quality of life in our community.
SC Give helps the community in two important ways.
- It engages the community by raising its awareness of community needs and brings people together to fulfill those needs in a fun and exciting way.
- It provides funding for a wide variety of projects that directly benefit the community by providing basic needs and enhancing the quality of life.
A small pilot program of this event was conducted on December 1, 2015, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The pilot program raised $30,000 in a 24-hour period for 13 projects directly benefiting the community, with another $10,000 in donations received directly by participating organizations in the week following the event.
Pilot program participants reported that, on average, 43% of the donors to their project on Giving Tuesday were new donors for them. They also reported that of the funds donated by existing donors, they would only have received 29% of them if it had not been for the Giving Tuesday event. All of the participants said they felt the time and money they invested in the event were well worth the benefits received.
Based on the success of the pilot program, we are doing a full roll-out of the program this year. 19 different organizations are participating with 21 projects seeking funding.
You can review the projects on this site on November 29th and support as many as you wish, or you can give a single donation that will be evenly distributed among all of the participating projects.
